4 Summary of GAAP-Basis Results • 3Q15 GAAP-basis results included the following notable items: – $75M pre-tax or $47M after-tax ($0.11 per share) severance costs related to targeted staff reduction – $83M pre-tax or $49M after-tax (0.12 per share) gain related to the sale of commercial real estate acquired as a result of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy – $59M ($0.14 per share) reduction of an Italian deferred tax liability as a consequence of our European legal entity restructuring activities. • For quarters from 3Q14 to 2Q15, we announced charges (due to pre-tax legal accruals recorded in those quarters) to increase our legal reserve associated with indirect foreign exchange matters. No additional amounts were accrued in 3Q15.
