Entercom and Interscope Records Announce Grand Prize Winner of “Sing Like Lady Gaga” Contest

Winner Receives Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance to Meet Lady Gaga
Nationwide Online Singing Contest Combines Radio and Social Media to Deepen Connection between Artists, Stations and Listeners

BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--()--Today, Entercom and Interscope Records announced the Grand Prize Winner of their multi-station, multi-platform singing competition entitled Sing Like Lady Gaga. Nicole Brunker, who participated through Milwaukee’s 103.7 KISS FM, wins a trip for two to meet Lady Gaga and Interscope Records representatives in late August.

Sing Like is an online singing competition that allows radio listeners to showcase their talent for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet a famous artist. Leveraging social media, the initiative is an innovative way for radio stations to connect directly with their listeners. Sing Like has garnered support and critical acclaim from major record labels such as Columbia, Big Machine and Sony Music Nashville/BNA – and now Interscope – for its potential to strengthen fan loyalty and extend artists’ online reach through popular social networks including Facebook and Twitter. Successful past Sing Like contests for Taylor Swift, John Mayer and Kenny Chesney all boosted on-air ratings, website traffic and engagement on social platforms.

Entrants to the Sing Like Lady Gaga competition auditioned by uploading videos on their local radio stations’ websites. Listeners voted for their favorites via Facebook, Twitter and email. A winner from each of the seven local stations was named by local judges panels and put into the final round of voting in early June. The Grand Prize winner was determined by a panel of leading on-air radio personalities and announced today on-air nationwide and on www.singlikeladygaga.com.

Pat Paxton, Senior Vice President of Programming at Entercom, said, “The Sing Like competition is a completely new way for radio to engage with its audience. Along with deepening engagement between listeners and stations, they increase advertising sales and create valuable promotional platforms for artists. For Sing Like Lady Gaga, we saw a significant increase in traffic to our affiliates’ websites. With over 1.5 million page views and a 40% referral rate on social platforms coming out of the contest, we are confident in the future potential of our Sing Like initiatives. We were thrilled to work with Interscope and Lady Gaga on this latest competition and look forward to many more Sing Like opportunities in the future.”

Chris Lopes, SVP of Interscope-Geffen-A&M, said, “Entercom was a terrific partner on this initiative to bring Sing Like Lady Gaga to listeners nationwide. We are delighted to provide the special and unique opportunity for one lucky fan to connect with their idol.”

According to research from Arbitron & Edison Research, over-the-air radio currently reaches over 93% of the U.S. population, with total audience continuing to grow consistently year after year. In addition, usage of online radio is up significantly, with weekly usage of all forms of online radio having doubled in the last five years. Entercom continues to capitalize on these industry trends, investing in additional digital platforms and initiatives to deepen the relationship between its audiences and brands. 1
